Walter Darvin Hicks, 81, widower of Mary Alice Hicks, passed away Monday, February 20, 2023 at his home.

Born January 4, 1942 in Anderson County, he was the son of the late Walter Hicks and Elizabeth Hicks Sosebee and was retired from the Roads and Bridges Department with the SCDOT.

Surviving are his sons, Darvin Dwayne Hicks “Kato” of Woodruff, Bobby Hicks of Spartanburg; daughters, Darlene Swihart of Johnson City, TN., Deborah Bright of Cowpens; grandchildren, Tasha Bright, Christina Erwin, Steven Bright, Trevor Swihart; great-grandchildren, Aidan Bright, Addison Phillips, Peyton Bright, Willow Bright, River Bright and great-great-grandchildren, Ryland Bright and Alice Bright.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Friday, February 24, 2023 at Lanford-Gwinn Mortuary.

Graveside services will follow at 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 24, 2023 at Rosemont Cemetery in Union.

Family members are at their respective homes.
