WOODRUFF- Wayne Roy Simmons,63, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, November 23, 2024, at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, N.C. after a brief illness.

  Wayne was born February 5, 1961, in Spartanburg County to the late Vernon Simmons Sr. and Lois Rice Simmons.  He was the youngest of seven children.  Wayne attended Woodruff High School and was a member of Padgett’s Creek Baptist Church.  He was part owner and operator of Simmons Logging Company and Simmons Goat Farm.

  Surviving is his wife of 40 years, Dianne Crow Simmons; two sons and daughters-in-laws, Luke and Meghan Simmons and Zach and Mindy Simmons; 7 grandchildren, Charleigh Simmons, Harper Simmons, Clay Simmons, Savannah Cogsdill, Dave Morrow, Tanner Leming and Colten Mitchem; sister, Pat Snow (Julian); two brothers, Danny Simmons (Kim) and Vernon Simmons (Marcia); sisters-in-laws, Sherri Hendricks (Steve), Darlene Simmons (Lee Hardee) Debra Powell (Scott) and Sheila Simmons; brother-in-law, James Lee Crow (Patricia); a bonus family member, Elizabeth Parham.  He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, along with some great-nieces and nephews.  Wayne was predeceased by three brothers, Arthur Simmons, David Simmons and Eddie Simmons.

  Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Woodruff by Rev. Carrol Caldwell, Rev. Steve Hendricks and Rev. Tim Huckaby.  Interment will follow at Switzer First Baptist Church Cemetery.

  Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 26, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Lanford-Gwinn Mortuary.

  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Atrium Health Liver Care and Transplant, 10502 Park Road #110, Charlotte, N.C. 28210.

  The family is at the residence.
