William Hayes Obituary

William Hayes

WOODRUFF- William Hayes,74, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Regional Hospice Home.

He was born December 21, 1950, in Spartanburg County, William was the son of the late Marshall and Elizabeth Hayes.  He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, and faithful follower of Christ whose quiet strength, steady faith, and servant’s heart were and example to all who knew him.

William proudly served his country in the U.S. Army for two years and as a member of the South Carolina National Guard for 18 years.  He carried that same sense of duty and integrity into every part of his life, as a loving husband to his wife Judy, of 55 years; as a dad to Jason, who he led with love and patience; and as a “Grandpa” to Emma Kate, Bailey and Connor, who he cherished deeply.

A longtime member of the Woodruff Church of God, William served as Clerk of Church, was on the Board of Elders and part of the prayer team for many years.  He enjoyed a good western movie, watching his grandchildren in dance recitals and play ball, and spending time with his family.

William is survived by his wife Judy Lambert Hayes of the home; his  son, Jason (Alysia) Hayes of Greenwood; granddaughter, Emma Kate (Trey) Ridlehoover of Saluda, S.C.; two grandsons, Bailey and Connor Hayes of Greenwood; sisters, Joyce Owings of Woodruff, Patsy (Jackie) Goforth of Greenville and Lillie Sanders of Woodruff; brother, J.L. Hayes of North Carolina.  He was predeceased by his parents, and brothers, Kenneth, Marvin, Marshall and Bobby Hayes.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Woodruff Church of God officiated by Rev. Jonathan Knight and Rev. James Shealy.  Interment will follow at Greenhaven Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. prior to the service in the church sanctuary.

The family wishes to thank the caring staff of Spartanburg Regional Home Hospice.
