Billy J. Godfrey

SPARTANBURG- Billy Joe “Bill” Godfrey, 73, of 10000 Reidville Road died Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

  A native of Woodruff, he was the son of the late Thomas and O’Neale Skinner Godfrey and was predeceased by his biological mother, Elsie Collins Godfrey.  He was of the Baptist faith and was retired as owner of Carolina Wood Works.

  Surviving are two sons, Michael Godfrey of Spartanburg and Tony Godfrey of Hickory, N.C.; two sisters, Margaret Harrill of Woodruff and Jeanette Simpkins of Woodruff; three brothers, Bobby Godfrey of Woodruff, Thomas Godfrey Jr. of Landrum and Ronnie Godfrey of Cross Anchor; 5 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren and 1 step-great-grandchild.  He was predeceased by a brother, Jack Godfrey.

  A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at Lanford-Gwinn Mortuary Chapel by Rev. Buster Ball.

  Visitation will immediately follow the service.

  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to West End Baptist Church, 1030 W. Georgia Road, Woodruff, S.C. 29388 or Cornerstone Baptist Church, 9480 Hwy. 221, Woodruff, S.C. 29388.

  The family is at their respective homes.
